Well... I've been playing with this concept for a few years now and decided it was time to get it out into the hands of those that could use it.

These are first pics of the factory prototype put together.

It's called the A.S.P. (Advanced Sniper Platform). It was designed to provide a functional load-bearing system that could be used while low crawling and extended periods in the prone shooting position. I wanted to make it functional as a stand alone item, as well as a component of a completely modular ghillie system. It is fully compatible with all Viper and Cobra models.

It has 1/2" closed cell foam integrated throughout the chest and shoulder harness. The system is fully adjustable and will be offered in two sizes.

The chest skid is contructed from 1000d cordura. Later models will have the option to hold plate armor. It has a crotch strap that keeps the skid in position when shifting or backing up.

The shoulder harness has a super clean design that provides minimal bulk around the shoulder for maximum comfort when shouldering a rifle. Adjustments are made via flat metal 1" tri-glides. The rear straps and hardware will be replaced on the final production model with 2, 1-1/2 webbing straps and flat metal tri-glides to create a cleaner design and better comfort.

The sleeves are detachable at a single point and cinch up around the shoulder via shock cord. The elbows/forearms are protected by 1000d cordura and have pockets for whatever level of padding that is needed. There are adjustable thumb loops and cord lock for closing the wrists up.

The cumberbund adjusts via paracord and can expand to fit different body types. It has integrated pockets for holding maps or misc. items.

I am also in the final stages of designing a set of matching chaps that will round off this system. It will provide full abrasion coverage for the front of the legs and have the paracord grid on the back. Plus it will provide MOLLE attachment along the upper thighs, so it will act much in the same way as a drop-leg platform.

We will be taking this prototype out to Camp Robinson next week for evaluation. Wish me luck and as soon as these are available for purchase, I'll let you all know!

Re: A.S.P. (Advanced Sniper Platform) Prototype

I am building a new kit now myself.........its the right color and need something that is Africa ready. I'm old school and travel light....faster and lighter.....less gear, make due type.

I really really like the looks of this and if you have one in XXL that may be ready by end of July please send me further info.

I wish I had the creative know how.........that is something I have been making myself or trying for 2o years modifying other products with zip ties etc.

Hit me up when you can -Derek

That's slick! I've been working ok my personal rig being very minimalist and this goes right along with it! It's cool how so many minds come to the sake conclusions!

Thanks Matman! I always try to think in minimalist terms when it comes to putting designs like this together. I wanted to maximize the modular/multi-purpose factor without adding any unnecessary bells & whistles.

We're still working on pricing. Our time has been spread thin lately with filling gov orders and development of some other projects, so discussion of pricing has been on the back-burner.

The ASP will be available either as a complete system with matching chaps or as individual components. Multicam models will probably be a bit more. As soon as I know pricing, I'll be sure to post it.

Thanks Phil and Joey762!

Field testing has been very positive so far. I've been beating the crap out of several variations of the chest rig for awhile. The sleeves in this configuration are pretty new, but have gone through the essential tests to ensure that fit, function and durability are there.

The sleeves are based off of our existing Cobra sleeves which have been used in theater for some time. My only issue with the existing Cobra sleeves is that they attach directly to the garment. I wanted to integrate the arm protection with the chest skid, therefore allowing the user to use the skids even when not wearing the ghillie base.

This makes it valuable beyond traditional ghillie applications. It can be used for heavy low crawling and/or prolonged prone positioning in any situation or environment; urban settings, night ops, range, etc......

I feel very confident with this system, but I'm well aware that my opinion doesn't mean shit until it's thoroughly tested in the hands of those that will put it to real-world use!
