I staffed a rotation to the local State Prison Medical Clinic until they got their own staffing. An inmate came to me looking haggard, accompanied by a guard (usually they just lined up outside our clinic door, but this guy had his own personal escort). He told me he had been having trouble sleeping and that he had had threats on his life.
Their file was also hand carried with them, and it showed their conviction on a blue paper inside the jacket. He was there for child molesting. Little children, at that.
I looked him in the eye, and said, "You realize that if you take a sleeping pill, you won't hear them when they come for you..."
His eyes, got huge, the guard tried to hide his reaction, and they left the room.
