Will a36 mild steel work for a target, I know ar500 would be best for that but money is really tight. The target will be used from 200yds and on and will be shot @ with nothing larger than a .308. Thank you

I have mild steel targets and will not shoot them any closer than 300 yds. At that distance a .308 still marks it up but doesn't make craters like my .280 does. My brother in law used them one time and shot through a plate with his .270WSM @ 200yds ! I have since got some AR500 targets and have not regrets at all . If you don't mind welding up the holes and craters or will use them at farther distances mild steel will be fine .
