Suppressors AAC ranger 3 ?

Re: AAC ranger 3 ?

I heard it was basically a thread on M4-2k, which should be a good thing. Should handle a decent rate of fire also, with the inconel blast baffle.

Negative on the loud part.... M4-2000 is a great suppressor. I shoot mine on a 10.5" SBR and it makes it more then tolerable without ear pro.

Funny you should mention that because this was exactly the setup that was at the range during my experiance. I noticed that the owner and his buddy put on earpro when they setup to shoot it. In fact, several of us asked why they needed earpro with a can! The instant he sent the first round down range I knew why!

I have tenitus and hearing loss in both ears thanks to an EFP just west of FOB Warrior outside of Kirkuk, Iraq, so trust me when it is loud to me, it must be loud! That or I just expect more from the AAC hype.
Guess I am partial to SAS cans, but for a small CQB platform I would look at the M47.

Lots of cans in 556 that is quieter on the market.....

Re: AAC ranger 3 ?

I shoot mine without ear pro, no problems what so ever. I'm sure there are other cans that are quieter but not very many. With that being said though, my only experience has been with my M4-2000 and GI Knights. The M4-2000 is quieter.

I own many different 5.56 cans. I think the M4-2000 ranks up there in decibel reduction better then most that are on the market. Times are changing, along with materials and technology. Are there better options? Sure. But for what they are, they flat out work. Ive got thousands of rounds on mine and it works great. They are more quiet then a SF, thats fact.

There is a difference between "being partial to SAS" and blatantly coming here to wildly promote the product. We get it, you like his stuff because you know him. What's funny is people trying to play the "AAC fanboy" and "AAC hype" card all the time. What is it about AAC that rubs you the wrong way? They went main stream thru advertisement and made all the right moves, hating on their success is typical bandwagon fan behavior.

Thread on cans are not really practical for SBR type applications. You tend to want to take the can off when you don't "need" it in place. SBR's put a hell of a beating on suppressors.

Re: AAC ranger 3 ?

I've got the old M4-1000 on a 10.5 Noveske and it's very tolerable without hearing protection. I shoot side by side with other 556 cans and don't hear much difference.

If I was going to build a varmint upper without a flash suppressor and just have the threads I would consider the ranger.

Re: AAC ranger 3 ?

The M4-2000 is a freeking tank. I don't doubt it is possible to find a silencer that is on paper quieter or for sure lighter, but we are talking about a fighting rifle right? M4-2000 is king of the hill right now for this application. Not sure the QD is critical its the QA that is. (Quick Attach) Its full auto rated so you know it can take the punishment. I love mine and I don't shoot my AR without it. I also don't use earplugs as they are not needed.

I love sass products and I am having a blast with my Arbiter, but when it comes to fighting rifle/carbine application the M4-2000 is tops.

There is NO SUCH THING as a hearing-safe centerfire rifle suppressor. Even the quietest are over 133dB which, though it meets OSHA requirements for intermittent impulse noise exposure in the workplace, is NOT safe for the stereocilia in your inner ear and WILL damage them with repeated exposure. If you're shooting an AR, ejection port noise is over 140dB regardless of your suppressor brand or barrel length. Wearing ear pro with a centerfire rifle can is the smart thing to do, only shoot without ears if it's necessary.

AAC rifle cans dominated Titsworth's testing a couple years ago and are still top-3 performers in most categories when tested by Bryon Gaston. If you think they are loud, you will probably find any suppressed centerfire rifle loud (most people do).
