once i got the rifle it went straight to the gun smith. changed out the stock and bedded the action. the gun smith advised i should shoot it then see if it needed anything else. i'm glad i listened to him. the rifle shoots better than most people can. i put on a vortex 4x16 pst and i love it.

Re: AAC that shoots

im qurious how well it will shoot ar further ranges like 700-900 yards with the 20", did the smith shorten the throat or do any chamber work? What ammo are you shooting? the 175 7.62x51 FGGM should shoot well past 600 yards. and it should shoot bug holes with 168 FGGM from 100-600ish.

Re: AAC that shoots

I have the same rifle coming. I already have a take off stock from a 5r milspec that will replace the hogue stock. Hope mine shoots as good as yours.

next week i will stretch it out to 400 and 500 yds. people say they are good out to 1000. but as for me, the only thing i have hit out that far has been with a 50cal barret in the military. this rifle likes federal 168 bthp. at a hundred it will put it all in the same hole if i hold right. the gunsmith didnt do any chamber work at all

Re: AAC that shoots

damn good rifles. i love mine and have shot it out to 600 many times (i have yet to go to go to a 1000 yard range). out to 600 i use the 168gr federal smk. i have shot the 175s as well and the only difference is if there is a slight wind i don't seem to notice as much of a difference as i do with the 168s and my groups stay more consistent.

I've heard plenty of people shooting the AACs out to 1000.

Re: AAC that shoots

Nice looking rifle!!

My 700 is cut to 18" so the barrel/can combo aren't 4ft long. I shot it with 168gr at 1K the bullets were going subsonic at the berm. My vertical was good but the wind was pushing the 168s around.

A month ago I took it out and was shooting some surplus 147gr in it (grabbed the ammo for the M1A, not the 700). I was able to get on at 1K with those as well but man, the wind was blowing them everywhere.

Re: AAC that shoots

I just finished building a175smk load for mine, huge group improvement over fgmm. if I do my part it will nock one ragged hole at 100yd and I have taken it out to 800yd. I should also mention it is sitting in a manners t4a with a mini chassis. No barrel or action work yet. I also have the xmark still in it tuned to about 1lb, no problems yet but I'm sure it will still end up with a timney.

Re: AAC that shoots

Did you get a chance to chrono those 168's? I just put my scope and stock and mine and haven't had a chance to take it out yet. I'm looking to build a cheat sheet for elevation. I realize I'll need to chrono my own to fill it out but was hoping for a head start so I can plug some numbers. Thanks.

would be interested in knowing your load data. me and a buddy just purchased reloading gear and are going to start reloading soon.
