Able table (or gray ops) on table top

I've accumulated enough secondary gear (spotter, kestrel, rangefinder, etc) where I think it makes sense to be able to setup an observation station with something like the Able table or gray ops AMP. I've dug through a bunch of threads and the pictures have been very helpful in terms of configuration. In the field, I will just pop it onto a solid tripod with a leveling base or ball head. However, I haven't been able to pin down what I'm going to do if I need to setup some (or all) of that stuff on a table top. My first thought was a table top tripod, but I've seen some pictures where it seems like some people are strapping their tables to a support bag. Have you guys had any luck with either?
