About that AR15 upper

So, I've been looking at starting a new project and need some know-how from those of you who have already come across this (as I don't want to waste time and money on this).

Here goes:

I want to put together a 16" upper together with a low-profile gas block. However, I want to convert the gas system into a piston system (as I am able to get a piston kit very cheap). But I don't like any of the handguards on the market (as I've tried most of them). However, I love the Magpul MOE handguards and would like to use them.

Will the Magpul MOE handguards allow for the use of a piston system?

And if so, do I need any kind of special attachment for the low-profile piston system so the handgurads won't just fall off?

Thanks!

Re: About that AR15 upper

Having just built my father an AR-15 complete with Magpul Rifle-Length MOE handguard, I can tell you that if the piston system holds up to pretty much the same dimensions as any other rifle-length gas setup (which it would have to if they're as drop-in as advertised) then you shouldn't have a problem. But I can't say with 100% accuracy because I don't know everything about your rifle.

I am most concerned about the very cheap piston kit. You seem to want high proformance at low cost. If that can be obtained at all, it will be far more likely with a DI system. Why do you want a piston kit?

What are you talking about? Didn't you read the link I gave you.

MAGPUL Moe Carbine Hand Guard - Black

<span style="text-decoration: underline">The Magpul MOE Hand Guard for AR15/M16 rifles with carbine-length 'direct impingement' or external-piston gas systems</span>/b] combines the light weight of a standard hand guard with modular flexibility. Slots at the two, six, and ten o'clock positions allow for optional mounting of Picatinny rail sections for tactical lights and other accessories. Reinforced, heat-resistant polymer construction provides operational durability without the weight and expense of an aluminum rail hand guard. Front extensions and lower lip provides additional operator protection from hot front sight assembly.

Unless theres some type of gas piston system out there thats completely different than the ones I have seen, this hand guard will work.

Pull out the spoon and start feeding, because apparently OP can't bother to click on a link and see the title in huge, bold letters stating "<span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-size: 14pt">Piston Compatible</span></span>".

@ Ultraman550 - Sorry man, I pulled up your link while I was in a huge hurry to get to work and merely glanced at the information. That's exactly the info that I needed. Thanks for the help.

@rth1800 - My buddy was able to get a great deal on a piston assembly at a gunstore that was going out of business and told me that since no one he knew wanted to buy it, he would let me have it really cheap.

@ Bedlam - Stop being a huge FUCKING DOUCHE! I'm human like everybody else in the world, and am therefore liable to make mistakes.
