I'm still waiting to see some direct first-hand reports on the XC bolt lift.

Most people at SHOT didn't realize that the required safety rules of a deactivated rifle meant that AI had to remove the firing pin assembly, and by doing so there's no longer any resistance on opening and closing. The demo rifle at SHOT basically couldn't demo the lightened bolt lift.

I've talked with one other AT-X owner who handled the XCs at MHSA last month, and said he didn't notice much difference. Would be nice to get some empirical numbers describing resistance in pounds.

I have an AT-X with at least 1,000 rounds thru it. I played with the one AT-XC that was in stock at Euro Optic recently, I was actually very surprised to find very little perceivable difference in bolt lift between mine and the AT-XC I handled.

It's a very nice rifle, but I didn't feel much difference, even with the safety in "fire" position.

Just my experience with a sample size of 1 of each.

That video BigSky just posted is pretty thorough. Looks like the bolt lift is only about half a pound lighter, at roughly 8.5 lb versus 9 lb on the legacy AT-X.

Cock on close being much smoother has distinct advantages, as well as the slight weight savings.

The only thing tempting me right now is the LH variant...

Keep in mind his ATX had 7000 rounds through it vs a brand new XC

I measure like the pic shown below. Both my 2015 and 2014 AT are 9 lbs give or take

My ATX was noticeably worse. I say it was 12 lbs but that’s the highest my Lyman trigger gauge will read and it would max it out

Yea but that's on an action that has more rounds on it than 90% of guys will ever shoot through theirs. Well broken in to say the least.

AT-XC is what I meant, sorry! EO had a red one in stock, I handled it for a while. It was nice, but I was surprised not to feel much if any difference dry firing and cycling the bolt between my AT-X and the new AT-XC

For shits and grins I just put my Wheeler gauge onto my AT-X, opening the bolt from a decocked position. The gauge was placed on the inner bottom side of the knob. Multiple samples ran approximately 7.25-7.5 lbs to open. For comparison, my rifle has only had about 1k rounds through it.

Cycled the bolt a few times on my AT-XC today at the shop and it feels good!! It doesn’t have that click you sometimes feel on the at-x when your about 3/4 closed. Bolt lift is a bit lighter but can’t say the lift on my at-x or ax was bad by any means.

All in all it’s a nice improvement over the at-x

Could be personal preference for the rail and it is my understanding that the hinge only comes commercially in one color, black.

I recently added the Sokek Solutions AT-X/C folding thumb rest. I love the idea behind it but with the stock AI grip I am not a fan as there's very little room between the hinge and your thumb. I currently have an MDT Vertical Elite Grip en route, I am hoping that the vertical grip will allow for more room for your thumb between the hinge and the rest or at least a better angle. If not I'll remove it and go back to resting my thumb on the folding stock hardware.

Bolt manipulation is crazy fast and I can place the tip of my middle finger on the tip of the curved trigger shoe which for me Gives him more precise trigger press. Although, I’m sure it’s all in my head…

I have the sokek too and agree with your findings. Been wanting to try this one as it puts your thumb farther forward

It does but you lose the stock locking feature when folded.

Nice review. Doesn't sound like your gaining much over the AT-X, once you add the bridge, rail and hinge, except the improved bolt knob. Overall a solid rifle.
