Hi,

I’ve been after a long action AI rifle for a while and am considering buying one of the reduced price AXMC LE models. I’m a big fan of the AXSA short action, so I’m familiar with the older AX ergonomics.

What am I giving up by going with the AXMC versus AXSR, other than harder to fine / obsolete spare parts?

For the people that have had both, what do you like more about the AXSR? Is there any negative to not having the bonded action?

@TangoSierra916 may be able to answer this. He’s owned several of each I believe

I’ve personally owned the AXMC and I’m a fan of the bonded action. Just a peace of mind thing. I wouldn’t say obsolete parts. There’s bolts and what not available all the time in the px here. Along with AXMC rifles. Several listed now. Saves a lot of $ vs a new AXSR

The trigger on my AXMC was fantastic as well

The lugs on the AXSR bolt have a larger load bearing surface which would be desirable if you were to use it for calibres beyond 338LM, say 33XC.

The locking mechanism for the AXSR cheekpiece is also pretty sweet compared to the AXMC... but trivial.

I would still take an AXMC any day, LE or standard. The triggers on the AXSR are pinned in IIRC (with a roll pin, not ground pins like a Rem700) and one of the bedding screws is ridiculously awkward to get to and borderline impossible to torque correctly.

They will for sure continue to manufacture critical AXMC parts as they do for AWs and AWMs, although they probably just won't be available immediately if and when you might need them.
