Gunsmithing Accushot Monopod on McM A5

Re: Accushot Monopod on McM A5

They do work. I have one on my tikka but I am going to try a bag the next couple trips. I find I am still moving side to side a fair bit with the monopod. They are more stable IMO then just using my hand. I also had one on my r-25 but sold it when I decided to sell the rifle. Wish I hadnt as I decided to keep it.

Re: Accushot Monopod on McM A5

On my tikka I have it mounted to the stud. On my ar I was waiting for a PRS stock that had a rail on it. So while I was waiting I picked up a small rail. I drilled the two holes for it and mounted it with two long screws and epoxy. It is on there and hasnt gone anywhere. I know I can take it off by either breaking the screws or cutting them off and then I could fill and touch up the holes.

Re: Accushot Monopod on McM A5

Here's mine with the mod done about 1 1/2 yrs ago. I prefitted the Accu-Shot to see if I had any clearance issues. Next, I took the stud out of the original stock and drilled a hole slightly over sized and glued it in with some structural adhesive.

Folds right up against the grip, that way if I want to use a bag it works that way too.

Bipod is used for this config. Free hand is on the pod with rearward pressure.

Well gafferq2xl aren't you the smart one!

I have no idea why I never thought of going to that area to mount the BT04 style monopod on the A4/A5 stocks, Good on you! Now I can start making that suggestion to those customers.

kwild, not sure of your technique, but if you are not keeping your off hand on the leg of the monopod while firing, try shooting that way. My off hand never leaves the leg while firing and adjusting to another target or back to the same one.

Re: Accushot Monopod on McM A5

Kasey I have been to the range 3 times this week and each time I used the bag with slightly better success. I think the issue is the factory sotck has so much flex between the bipod and the monopod. Also I do use my free hand on the monopod.

Now that I see you are on this board I am sending you a pm with an issue I am having. Not sure if you have a cure.

Re: Accushot Monopod on McM A5

I was told by a guy at the range he liked his monopod and he like the fact he could
lock it at a 45 if need be and just hold it with his free hand. I never looked at it that
closely so I dont know what module it was, but I want it. Any help would be appreciated

Re: Accushot Monopod on McM A5

I was looking for a way to to mount the Accu-Shot to my A5 but it didn't have a stud for it, only a flush cup. While trying to figure where I wanted to put it near the cup I found this elevated the rear of the stock higher than I liked.

When I slid it into the butt hook area I instantly felt this was the right way to go. For me it has ALL the advantages.
