I plan to add a TA11 with the horseshoe reticle to my 6.8SPC for hunting applications. I like the TA11 due to the increased eye relief and reviews I've read.

Currently I'm running a pushing a 95Grain TTSX at 2,900fps out of a 18" SPR type upper.

100 yard zero
300 yards 4.0MOA
400 yards 7.4 MOA
500 yards 11.6 MOA
600 yards 16.7 MOA

So would my ballistics will be closer to a .308 BAC or the .223 BAC Model??

I realize the 4x model has a 6.8 reticle but I really want the TA11 due to the bigger objective and the lower power as low light applications would be better and like I stated from the reviews I've read the seems to favor the TA11 for the eye relief...

Thanks in advance.......

Why don't you want to run a scope that you dial the elevation onto it based on the current conditions/loads? I love ACOGs on work rifles, pretty much "meh" otherwise, and "no thank you" if precision is important.

.... or email trijicon and ask where you can find that info.

I have found some before, but I didn't save the link.

You could also figure out all of that with a ballistics calculator given the weapon and ammo each acog model is designed for.

This is exactly right, I have a TA11 and it's great for a battle rifle but unless you're just hunting hogs there are better optics choices for hunting applications. Running the numbers in my ballistics computer with a few choices of factory ammo (.223/.308) neither of your BC reticle choices match up well with your DOPE.

I like the green horse shoe, but use a TA01 on one of my set ups, specifically for pigs within 100 yards when its not quite dark enough yet to use NV and IR laser as the primary. Never noticed an issue with relief or low light performance. But never felt the scope ideal for hunting either. Kinda like a using a hammer when you need a torque wrench. On anything within 100 yards sure, but beyond you are limiting yourself, there are better options for the money in my opinion.

Bill, I used my ACOG TA31 for Varmint Silhouette matches and it did not perform the way I thought. The hashmarks were nice, but they were as precise as I needed them. Like all the others are saying, the ACOG is a battle sight, not a precision scope. Get something that you will use on an SPR. My father is putting a Vortex PST on his 18inch SPR. I will let you know what he thinks. Otherwise, I would recommend the Leupold Mark 4 scopes, either fixed power or not. You are close to the right track, but still, stay away from the ACOG if you want precision past 300 yards, trust me, I know. -Neil

Thanks Neil and thank you for all of your comments. Will probably go with a regular Nightforce or Vortex scope.

To all happy hunting it right around the corner!!
