I am thinking of changing out my current set-up on my SR15 Match and go with a straight 4x scope. This configuration is for short range recreational/enthusiast shooting only, not a duty rifle. I have zero experience with the ACOG and the same with the USO SN-12.

What are your thoughts and experiences (hands on) when comparing the two.

Hopefully it'll help make my decision easier.

Re: ACOG TA31 series or USO SN-12

I've never owned an SN12, I have owned the SN4 as well as ACOG.

To the good, the SN4 had noticably better glass and adjustable turrets.

To the bad, it was bigger, heavier, more expensive, and while they have a lot of retical choices none are outstanding at any one thing - like the ACOGs they are all just different versions of jack of all trades.

That all said, the SN12 is with in a couple of bucks of a (street price) TA31F. So if I were going to buy a new optic I'd probably get the SN12.

That said, on some boards you can find some gently used ACOGs for a whole lot less than list.

Good luck
