Hi all,
Just a quick note that in any of our matches this year, we are opening up an additional competition category:
Vintage Sniper Rifles.
A Vintage Sniper Rifle for our purposes shall be as defined as in CMP rules for the Vintage Sniper Rifles match, except we are not strict on the optics or the mount so long as you are shooting on no more than 10x. So any scoped springfield, mauser, SMLE, Garand, mosin, etc, mfg. in otherwise as-issued appearance before 1953 can compete in this category.
Some matches we will feature them (though not exclude others) and try to do some cool stages that speak to some of the challenges that marksman of that time faced.
We will also run the official 20 round per shooter 300/600 CMP Vintage Sniper Rifle Match CoF as written.
Let me tell you - these rifles are a LOT of fun and I would encourage you to put one together. You would be surprised exactly how capable they are.
I'm going to go ahead and be the guinea pig and run my mauser sniper repro for our January match, and after seeing what it did out to 637Y Saturday with 30 year old ammo, I don't plan on coming in last. Some Hornady vintage match ammo is on the way for next time. ;-)
