I just got Done drilling my gas hole in my 17 rem barrel I’ve been working entirely too long on. I put it all together and need some guidance on adjusting my gas block. I’ve read that you screw it in until the bolt just locks back on empty mag. What I am unsure of is if I am to do this on the lightest load I will shoot or the heaviest?

You start closed and open it. When it locks back with 1 round in all your mags, you are done. Spring wear, gas port errosion, etc. will make it more reliable over time.

Lightest load to start, then check how it runs with your other loads. Most likely will run all the ammo that way, but depends on the GB, the differences in the ammo & how finely tuned you want it to be.

My first hole was .078 with a brownells house brand lightweight bolt carrier group, armaspec stealth recoil spring “3.3oz equivalent” rifle length +3” gas system and wide open wasn’t enough gas to cycle.. I drilled out to .093 and can get it to cycle but not enough gas to lock back. I’m debating if I wanna drill it even bigger or just not worry about last round bolt lock. What’s the lightest buffer & spring I can get? Any other options? Opinions?

A search of light weight buffers returned one that weighs only 1 ounce. You could also try JPs silent capture spring with reduced power spring. You could also drift the pin in your current buffer and remove/change the weights to make it lighter.

What happens in the beat pit stays in the bear pit... Keep us posted on how this progresses.

And FWIW... I usually open the Adj. GB a little bit more after it locks back ( in my case another click ) ... to account for adverse, cold sluggish conditions or a grungy firearm.

I also strongly suggest you keep the needed tools to adjust the Adj. GB with the firearm.... in the grip is where I keep mine, along with a "single" serving lube pack.
