AfTer alot of research i want to buy a remington 700 long range in 300 win mag. If the rifle is good out of the box i plan to do the stock first, if its not as accurate as expected i will do the barrel first. This will be my first bolt gun build, i have built ars but im sure this is very different. I will find a good gun smith and have them do it for me. Besides the stock and barrel i plan to flute the bolt, trigger upgrade and upgrade the bottom metal to accept better mags. Any reccommendations on brands or advice is appreciated. This will be done over a bit of time most likely. With the remington recall im kinda dissapointed theres no time frame as i really want the gun. Ive looked at savage and am open to them but seems like if plans for a build are possibke remington is the way to go. Thanks
I also have a tikka t3 hunter that shoots great just to thin a barrel for more then 15 rounds in a row. Ive considered upgrading the barrel on this but figure im looking at around 700$ for parts and installation for a barrel alone which is same price as remington.
