Rifle Scopes Advice on quality scope for my Armalite AR-10

Guys i'm looking to buy a quality scope for my AR-10.I could use some advice on what brand to go with at a middle of the road price value. Thanks

Few questions.

1. how far do you intend to shoot and at what? Metal targets or pigs?

2. whats your shooting style, bench, prone, are you going to be on the move a lot?

3. whats your budget?

This is a great time to ask that question as there are lost of options.

And out of curiosity do you know the inherent accuracy of your gun? 1.5moa., 1moa, lower-higher?

For the money I don't think you can beat the Vortex Viper PST FFP in either the 4-16X50 or the 6-24X50 depending on the type of shooting you intend to do. The 4-16X50 can be had for about $700 the 6-24X50 around $800 +or- $25.

Middle of the road price and middle of the road magnification, the SS variable line or Vortex PST's are among the best values out there.
Specifically, the SS 3-9x42 mentioned above, or the Vortex PST 2.5-10x32 would be my 2 picks for an AR-10 setup under $750

Sako, i'm looking out at around 500-yards,mainly metal targets.I will be shooting in the prone and bench depending on the range I go to.I figured for price range somewhere up to $1200.00 The inherent accuracy of this AR-10 is a 1MOA.Thanks

12x would be appropriate, 16x would be your max I think. The AR10 is a heavy gun so why make it any heavier. I would look into a March as they make really light stuff that rocks, but you pay a premium for the glass and versatility.

People will try to sell you on the PST but if good glass is a priority then I would much rather have a SWFA SS, never been impressed with PST glass, every one I have seen exhibits some level of chromatic aberration/color fringe. Razor glass is much much better. But the Razor is a massive optic. By staying with a 30mm tube you will be able to cut back on some of that weight.

This has great glass but a little too much magnification for you, you could always dial it back. I think the important thing is to get mil/mil. The price is right in there.
SWFA SS HD 5-20x50 Tactical 30mm Riflescope

For the price this optic is great and about the right power for you. It's going to be hard to go wrong with this.
SWFA SS 3-15x42 Tactical Rifle Scope

As well a lower priced optic that I have had luck with is the Weaver, Japanese built. Good tracking.
Weaver 3-15x50 Tactical 30mm Rifle Scope

Now if weight is not as much of an issue then you could go with an IOR, the glass on these is Schott German glass and excellent. And way up there in quality next to the best optics out there. As well the MP8 reticle is great and easy to learn.
IOR 2.5-10x42 Tactical 30mm Rifle Scope

happy hunting.

Do you want 1st or 2nd focal. I used a bushnell HDMR 3.5-21x (h58 Horus ) for quite awhile with great results. The G2 reticle can be had near your price range. The glass is not as good as my razor HD but the price is not similar either. The HDMR is plenty clear enough to get you well past 500 and the 1st focal with a good reticle makes steel a breeze when you don't ever have to dial after you are zero'd.

Yeah those are cool but looks like they have taken a price hike and are from 1500 to 2k now, ouch!
