Hey everyone,

I am looking at getting a new trigger on my Savage Model 10 308. I am wondering if anyone can give me a recommendation on brand. I have been looking into Rifle Basix. A couple things to keep in my is ease of installation(I have 2 left hands) and price(no more than $150)

Thanks in advance.

Re: Aftermarket trigger recommdation.

dont know about basix, but for about $200.00 you can get a "Jewell" of a trigger at midway this month, & 1st time you shoot it you'll be glad you did, they are great!!

Re: Aftermarket trigger recommdation.

Accu triggers aren't all they are cracked up to be. I am having trouble with mine as it was made poorly so now when you are hard on the bolt it causes the trigger to lock up. Sucks when you have the perfect shot and you can't get the trigger to move without opening the bolt 30+% and closing it again slowly. I might do some fin stone work on it to see if I can get it to work better till I can get a new trigger so I am in the same boat looking for a trigger. I heard good things about SSS but I am very very leery based on my Mag order with them that caused me to get lied to for 7+ months. I am thinking about the Timmey currently.

You should never slap the bolt down hard with any rifle...if for any reason you don't have sufficient sear engagement (or trigger-return spring force), the rifle will fire. Be glad the Savage accu-release saved you from having a negligent discharge!

Re: Aftermarket trigger recommdation.

I don't "slap" it down but if you close it any harder then gently. So in basic tactical competition when you quickly (has more to due with speed of the bolt)chamber your round on timed stages the sear skips the trigger. The sear skips over the notch in the trigger since the notch was very poorly cut into the trigger and the rear of the sear is not very flat to make the correct contact. To me the rifle is not working as designed since any other bolt action rifle easily perform this action. I did take it to a smith as well and he basically said the same things I have noticed. He is a huge savage fan and has many savage rifles. He said this is not normal as it should be able to be treated rougher then I am and still not have a issue.

PS- I never close a bolt with a live round unless it is pointed at my intended target and if it is not a live round it is always a snap cap. Safety is key in this sport.

Re: Aftermarket trigger recommdation.

I see that they are currently out of stock, but I have got the SSS triggers, (bolt handles too), from Tactical Works a few times in the past with no problems. I have the SSS Comp Trigger on all of my Savages and could not be happier. I have mine all set around 1-1.5lbs with very little take-up and minimal over-travel.

Re: Aftermarket trigger recommdation.

Sharp Shooter Supply is a supplier of Savage parts (factory & aftermarket), and services. The parts they make are very good by almost everyone's opinion. Their personal service has had mixed reviews. I order their stuff through Tactical Works when it is in stock and get my parts with no wait or suprises.
As compared to the other aftermarket triggers I can't really say. Compared to the factory triggers on Savages & Stevens rifles they are great. Fully adjustable is the main reason I like them.

I did all this to my mark II TR trigger and it is light and sweet...

good write up
