AI .223 bolt face

Don't waste your breathe, this is a dead horse.

Bottom line, if you want a 223 then buy/build something else.

Heh... when I first saw the title of the post, my thought was, "Fuuuuck, this again??"

Yes, I know that I can choose not to click on a post, but it's kinda like that one song that's in heavy rotation on the radio... you can change the station or turn the volume down, but that doesn't make you any less tired of having it come on so often...

Easy!

The "best way" to "demand" this would be to first become Commander-in-Chief of the British Armed Forces and identify a clear need to downsize sniper caliber needs. Explain that the trend of going from the L118 in 308 to the L115 in 338LM for additional range, capability & impact a completely wrong idea ... because snipers need smaller, less capable, short-range calibers. Then commission them to develop a revised L118A3 chambered in 5.56 NATO.

I mean, if you've got the coin you can hire some engineers to develop a print of the bolt you want, have it machined, heat treated, ground to spec and coated. Shouldn't be more than 15,000.

I mean technically you could have someone bush another bolt and cut a new extractor for the smaller cartridge right?

Also most likely you could have any tool and die shop make you a new bolt body for <$1500 with engineering costs. Even cheaper if the bolt head itself if removable from the body, which looking at pictures it kinda looks like it is removable by removing one of the spring pins.

its removable...buddy who does my barrels owns a machine shop, he said something like that for a 1 off would probably run 1500-2k...biggest issue is getting it to feed...unless running really long bullets the 223 will have a problem making the jump from mag to chamber...can be worked around but will take more mods and tweaks

Ruger Precision Rifle in 5.56....that's what I am going to do. As long as it cycles all right it really checks all my boxes, only downside I have found so far is that its threaded 1/2-28 instead of 5/8-24 but thats a personal problem because of my suppressor choices.

A 223 does not just require a bolt, it requires an action as well as it will not feed properly in the current action. If it was as simple as a bolt we would already have done it.

Why not put the feed ramp in the mag?

If I am completely wrong, I apologize, I don't have any real experience with these rifle(would love to buy one in the future)
