AI vs Muscle Brake

Which one is more efficient and which one is "quieter"

(Accuracy International)

(Muscle Brake Thinking center one but maybe 2nd one from the right)

(Does anyone make this type of a muzzle brake or would it be a bad idea)

What kind of rifle and why only these two plus the 50BMG.Are we talking a cartridge that really Needs one,or a Tacticool application?

If you want a quiet brake get a can. With that said none that you are asking about will be quiet. I am running a FTE (which looks alot like the AI) I would not hunt with it for fear of hearing damage. FWIW

My field rifle has an FTE, but we both wear peltors when shooting... Without would be a silly move.

I think the slanted rear port brake would be more wank than function unless you're firing a big cal round and recoil is really an issue.

Adding to the above "quieter" isn't really a word that should be used in the same sentence as muzzle brake!

let me clarify quieter, I want to use the rifle for hunting as well as target shooting so I dont want my ears to explode when I take a shot and I would like to be able to get away using just normal ear plugs.

the rifle is gonna be a .338 edge with a 28 inch barrel

and as to why the choices, all three of them are based on looks and a little reading(I read that muscle brakes are supposed to be awesome, the AI one is for the fact that if a 8000 dollar rifle uses it is must be good, and as for the .50 one it is because I read that on the 50 it is really effective and also I have started to see them on mossberg rifles so it must be doing something right...also because of the tacticool part.)

My guess is that muscle brake is more efficient than the AI brake... I have a fat boy (4 chamber?) on my 338AIAW and it tames the recoil better than the OEM brake.

for a 338 get a 4 port muscle break or a fatboy break both are awsome

I run a Fat Bastard on mine;

This works great especially since the rifle is not as heavy as it looks in the Pic,it is 14lbs with optics.

This is a 338 EDGE

am I to assume that the fat bastard is the same thing as the fat boy or am I just not looking hard enough and also if I am to get a muscle brake what is the difference between the two sizes on the 4 port brake

I think mine is actually called the fat bastard.. not fat boy.
