AIAW Rifle Question

Can you tell me why some AW rifles have aftermarket barrels on them. Is it because AI sold just their receivers only at one time? Is there an issue with the stock barrel that came with the rifle? Also can you tell me why some aftermarket barrels are threaded.I know little about AI rifles and would like to learn. Please learn me.

Many reasons not the least of which is because you can, meaning the end user can swap barrels in under ten min. Perhaps they wanted a switch barrel to run another caliber or a different barrel length.

They use very good barrels made by Border in Scotland on the AW but the AE uses a Walther. Im considering a 5R fluted rock finished at 18" for my AE dosnt mean the OEM is bad just want something not offered from AI.

There's nothing wrong with AI barrels. They're good stuff. Some folks just like to go in different directions and since it's easy to swap barrels on an AW that makes it pretty common.

Both of my AIAWs in 308 and 338LM with their stock barrels are holding up just fine compared to my build Bartlein's barrel in 300 win mag.

Should rephase the remark about the AE barrels. AE barrels shoot very well too not uncommon to get consistant .5 MOA from everything I have read. I will know for certain when mine gets here.
