Re: AIAW scope mounting options
I must be missing the issue here but I will try to address some of what I see:
1. 1st off the AI dovetail mount which is machined directly on the top of the receiver is flat 0 cant for obvious reasons.
2. The Picatinny rail which is pinned, screwed and epoxied to the receiver is not a simple "removable" it must be basically machined off, again all these are flat as well/0 cant.
3. The AI scope mounting system consist of a flat base, either dovetail or Pic rail standardly, and the cant is applied in the scope mount itself by offering the end user the following options:
-30mm/18moa Pic
-30mm/28moa dovetail
-34mm/18moa dovetail and Pic
-34mm/28moa dovetail and Pic
-34mm/45moa dovetail and pic
-30mm reduction rings for any of the 34mm mounts so you can utilize them if desired.
4. Why would do we offer the flat base and canted scope mounts, for several reason:
-less parts, lower cost
-how many options to offer 20moa, 30moa and 40moa? now you have x3 different rail now double that due to short vs long action requirements.
-BIGGY here, they are permanently attached, so we would have to build them to order, of course someone will order the 20moa setup, now the customer wants a 30moa so you cannot sell the rifle but yet order another one. This way, one base, multiple scope mounts, all can be accommodated simply said.
5. The AI scope mounting solutions are listed at $188 range for any of the Picatinny mounts from the 18, 28 and 45moa range. The Dovetail mounts are $128 range for any of the 18, 28 and 45moa range. Comparing these options and pricing, you will see that we are offering them very reasonably priced in direct comparison to your other options.
6. For the larger center gearbox optics with the double turn systems such as the S&B and Premier, you can either take full advantage of the system by using the 45moa bases, or you can elect to take the 18 or 28moa base and have it machined to accommodate the extra required clearance of .030" - 0.060".
Best wishes, I hope this helps and as always, if you have qustions, need assistance PM, email or call me.
