Hello everyone. We know that this day is coming for all of us... My groups are starting to open up just a bit after 2000 hot rounds down the factory tube. Anyone know off the top of their head what AINA is offering for barrels these days and who is cutting them? I'll of course give them a call tomorrow, but I figured a quick post might give me a heads up - or shortcut possibly. I figured it might be Tooley, which would be awesome.
I am running the original 27", 1 in 10" fluted barrel that came on the rifle back in 1999. I've tried removing it via the conventional methods, but applying heat isn't a smart idea with the action bonding. Cutting the existing barrel to relieve the stress is going to be the safest option I believe which I am ok with.
I procured a Krieger blank that was "mystery chambered" by who knows, but it looks like their reamer was on it's last leg or someone was just plain stupid (chamber got lightly barber-polled somehow). Not exactly keen on 1200 gritting that chamber into a "pretty" state.
I've had great accuracy from the factory tube... I hope the current offerings hold to the same standards!
Thanks in advance,
Lee
