Hello everyone. We know that this day is coming for all of us... My groups are starting to open up just a bit after 2000 hot rounds down the factory tube. Anyone know off the top of their head what AINA is offering for barrels these days and who is cutting them? I'll of course give them a call tomorrow, but I figured a quick post might give me a heads up - or shortcut possibly. I figured it might be Tooley, which would be awesome.

I am running the original 27", 1 in 10" fluted barrel that came on the rifle back in 1999. I've tried removing it via the conventional methods, but applying heat isn't a smart idea with the action bonding. Cutting the existing barrel to relieve the stress is going to be the safest option I believe which I am ok with.

I procured a Krieger blank that was "mystery chambered" by who knows, but it looks like their reamer was on it's last leg or someone was just plain stupid (chamber got lightly barber-polled somehow). Not exactly keen on 1200 gritting that chamber into a "pretty" state.

I've had great accuracy from the factory tube... I hope the current offerings hold to the same standards!

    Thanks in advance,

    Lee

Well, yeah. I hope anyone would use the correct tools for this

Anyhow, we broke one of the AI kits (the action wrench) trying to get it off! This was broken by a VERY qualified smith while I was assisting as well.

In line of preventing any warping (or other damage) to a rather expensive action, we'll just cut on it a little to get it off. Getting the old barrel off isn't a problem though as I don't mind destroying a shot-out tube one bit.

My original post was asking the question of:

    A) Who is cutting barrels from AINA currently.

    B) Has anyone purchased directly from AINA recently for their AW barrel replacement?

Dave Tooley chambers the barrels for AINA. You can get in touch with Mile High Shooting in Colorado and they will hook you up.

Re: AINA AWSM 338LM barrel options

I have a few AI barrels left from back when I was shooting the 338. They are new and I have a few 300wm's also with the bolt for a caliber change if interested.

Sweet. I might very well be interested, thanks. I'll PM you for more details here shortly.

Looks like I can't PM you since the upgrade. I believe you have to specifically enable the ability to PM in your settings now (I did).

I will keep trying in the near future to see if you got it working.
