Gunsmithing All you stock/grips makers

Re: All you stock/grips makers

Made some mistakes with this wood but I'll do up another set - you may see these in the FREE section soon..
(They are wet, hard to photograph wet)

Re: All you stock/grips makers

Those will be unusual when done. I know a guy who used to make harps out of that wood, they looked good.

Re: All you stock/grips makers

Thanks - they will look good on a 1911 but these are not perfect so I will probably give them away to someone here...anyone here..

Re: All you stock/grips makers

I would speak up, but those would look awful funky on my green 1911!

Re: All you stock/grips makers

I made a forend cap for a Shehane laminated stock a few years ago using Purpleheart. When you first cut it the color resembles mahogany. After a day or two exposure to air it changes back to the purple color. No need to bake if you fear you might damage the thin grips.
