Will Alpha type 2 308 mags run in a stiller tac 30 without modifying the feed ramp. The rifle has a seekins mag system @ 2.940 OAL in it now so it seems it should fit. I am thinking of changing the stock to a Mcree and want to keep the extra length. Is there a opening length to use as a guide line so you could measure? Alpha site just shows a picture of the modification without any measurements. The reason I ask is I have also have pierce action in 7mm saum with a fixed mag that feeds 2.950 fine now. I was thinking of changing it over as well if it doesn't have to modified.

They Should work fine, the area you have to mod on some stock 700's is done on the Stiller. Give Chris a shout, he may have more Insight.. tho he can be a lil hard to get ahold of.

I believe its removed on the Predator actions but not on the Tac series

What are you guys making the mod with? I have read people using a dremel, man that concerns me. I have found very few things I can't screw up with a dremel:) Dustin what did you use? Do you put on angle on it like a M4 feed ramp or just make it flat so it digs into the ramp less? Thanks for the help.

The Predator is cut longer, but to the rear, not the front. Using the standard AI magazine bottom metal, the AW mags will not work with the standard magazine cut at the front. Initially, the AI chassis and the bottom metal that copied it, only used the AICS magazines, which have a spacer up front. When using the AW, the bullet point will hit on the front. If the action is designed to accomodate it, then the area is redesigned to be ok. Our AW action will work and be safe and hopefully other customs have had the same analysis done and are OK too. Cutting any other non-AW designed action in this area to make it work is not a good idea. If any Stiller action has been cut, the warranty is void, we assume NO liability and strongly recommend against it.

Any idea when the AW cut Tac 30s will be available?

Thank you!!! </div></div>

8 to 10 weeks is my best guess. I go in for shoulder surgery on Thursday. Hopefully it wont put me out of commission completely. I can hopefully type and write code.

Re: alpha mags in tac 30 and pierce actions

I made a 7mm WSM on a Pierce action that uses the Alpha mags. I found a bottom metal that shifts the magazine slightly to the rear. This way I notched out the rear of the receiver slightly instead of the front where that strength is needed for the bolt lug.

It seems like there are dozens of DBM bottom metal makers now, but only one I've seen that shifts the magazine back to take advantage of the extra length in the Alpha magazines. It seems like the 308 based rounds would have this same problem in the Alpha magazine unless it is shifted to the rear.
