Ammo Carry for Comps?

Re: Ammo Carry for Comps?

If you using factory, the boxes they come in are fine.

If your using reloads:

RedTac ammo cards are GTG, available from Triad. Also the Frankford Arsenal 20 rd Ammo Vault are excellent as well. I sure there are others, but those are the two I use most.

Re: Ammo Carry for Comps?

Without having DBM i would just toss the boxes in your pack or use the Redman ammo cards. Both simple and effective methods.

Being tactical is less important then being proficient.

Happy Shooting HOG and yell if you need anything!

Re: Ammo Carry for Comps?

the stock pouches work well. you never loose track of them in your ruck somewhere.

But upgrading to DBM is the way to go. That way your loading a full magazine verses one round at a time.

Re: Ammo Carry for Comps?

I use Federal Gold Metal Match plastic ammo holders, each holds 10 rounds, I think 3-4 will fit in surplus M16 3 mag carriers, or they can be stuffed in pockets, or in your pack.

Re: Ammo Carry for Comps?

I like GI NATO stripper clips, either 5.56 or 7.62, whichever fits my cartridge. Even if I can't use them for charging a magazine, they keep ammo spills from becoming a massive pain. If you're using a NATO standard magazine, the correct GI magazine bridge clips allow very rapid recharging of those magazines. They also hold my .222 and .260 rounds just as well.

Re: Ammo Carry for Comps?

I use money bags. You can get 150 rounds of 308 in one. They zip up and are supper tough. Mine are mostly blue though. Might give you away stalking down the path on the way to the next stage? but then again if they dont see you at the stage you might not get to shoot?

You are just too "old school". The current inserts are white.

Re: Ammo Carry for Comps?

Federal Gold Metal Match plastic ammo holders & 2 20rd mags (1 for back up)

* some matches say 5rds - mag change - 5rds

*lots of times loading mags full and only using xrds per stage / i've seen guys at a stage shoot what is in there mag, have a bad rd and have to scramble to there bag to get 1 rd (a spare mag in your pocket with 5rds in it is a good thing

*this weekends match in Oregon i have 90rds in my ammo holders ready to go - and at stages i will load mag with needed rd count (+spare mag in pocket)

These are great! I also have a few of the Redman ammo cards spoke of. They also work very well.
