It (The Grounds of the University) which you'll see in the aerial built by Jefferson and granted to the state, was declared by the American Association of Architects, as the #1 example of original American Architecture. The round, domed, building is "The Rotunda" which originally served as the library and administrations. Stretching westward from it the two rows of buildings were students rooms, each with a still working fireplace, and every 5 rooms or so the larger buildings, called pavillions, are classrooms and the professors live (some still do) upstairs. Jefferson called it his 'Academical Village' where the faculty and students all lived together. It was the first university in America.
