Regardless of the position, what are the criteria you judge the quality of your position on?

Stability? Ability to manage recoil?

As long as you can get in/out of position at a reasonable pace, is there anything else that matters?

i think you have it pretty much summed up. it's a balance between efficiency/stability/ability to manage recoil and spot your shot.

depending on the situation you might decide to favor one of those more than the others.

Conditions are a factor. If I know what the wind is doing then I don’t need to spot impact. However I’m building a position if I need a wind call

Situationally dependent.

More wind = more need for recoil management

Multiple positions = ability to get out faster

Multiple targets = ability to move rifle amount needed

Etc etc etc.

IMO, there’s not really a cookie cutter checklist like there is for prone shooting.

For example, if the target is pretty small, there’s not much wind, and the prop is pretty unstable (like a tire at an angle that bounces) then you can back off the gun quite a bit and free recoil more as you know you don’t need a huge amount of recoil management to see where/if you miss due to wind.

That same scenario with a lot of constant wind, you’re going to really focus on recoil the first shot until you know your wind call us good.

Same scenario with switchy wind, you’re going to have to really focus on recoil every single shot.

Etc etc.

I make most of my position decisions based on time management. Given enough time you could build a rock solid, recoil managed position with bags and tripods and tac tables for each shooting position. There's usually never enough time for that so I almost always just run a single bag.
