The headlines are getting stranger and stranger, and more and more I find myself capable of believing revelations today what I would have found laughably unbelievable a week ago. Pass the tin foil, and have a very appropriate Supertramp LP on me:

Speaking of Smarties, we've a stack of them here. Almost tempted to hold for ransom. Amongst other things, actually. I make my coffee myself, and it is far stronger than anything Timmy-Ho's sells.

But we ain't no third-world Country, we gots M&M's. Almond ones are the bestest!

Man, y'all got me goin down memory lane, i grew up in Manitoba. Perogies, Coffee Crisp, ketchup chips.. cant get alot of my childhood food down here.
I'm in Manitoba right now, and believe it or not, we've been amassing a 'care package' for a certain individual here. We're remiss in getting it out sooner, but you're not the only one who 'beckons the good stuff'.

They put malt vinegar and sometimes even gravy on their fries too...

Okay, so I like the gravy thing.

Go to any bowling alley (actually, no such thing anymore, they've all been converted to Hockey Rinks) in Western Canada and order a cheeseburger & fries. They will come with Mayo on the Fries ! My God ! On the Fries ? Can you imagine such a travesty ? I'm not Mayo averse, I kind of like it. Next time you have Fish & Chips, drag some of your Chips through the tartar sauce.....Mmmmm.

Oh, and if you like Cole Slaw, there is nowhere on earth that makes better Cole Slaw than White Spot. :p

White Spot? Sounds kind of Second Peoples to me.

:p

It was brought up, so I gotta attest.... the restaurant chain in the Lower Mainland called "White Spot" really is a good place that serves a really good burger meal. I remember going there, as a kid, on my birthday. Almost back before they invented time.

Credit where due.... and I didn't name the restaurant. The owner(s?) did.

Sean, how far east do they go ? I used to go to a bunch of them in GVA/GVR, but maybe they are indeed just a lower mainland chain ?....

Thread, as far as I know, they're just a Hongcouver area chain. There is a tiny drive-through dive here in The 'Peg that is called "The White Spot" that is nothing like what is out west, and no similarities whatsoever, other than they both serve burgers.

So 'the good one' has gotta be just a West Coast thing. I remember, many decades ago, the kids meal came in a 'pirate ship' with gold coin treasure chocolates, and everything. Their version of a 'happy meal,' I guess.

Uh, mayocatsup is the bomb on tostones, hold the ajo, thank you.

Sorry Veer, gotta disagree on this. Tostones with plain old garlic salt and nuttin else.
I have noticed that you are quite the saucy fella when it comes to your gastric pleasures.
Are you sure you're not from the British Isles?
Them fellas love their gravy.

Try real wasabi. Yeah baby. Clear sinuses.

Met a friend for lunch once at a nice sushi restaurant. He claimed he liked sushi, but I could tell he didn't know what to do. He watched and followed my lead, big mistake. I put some wasabi in a dish, but instead of flooding it with soy, I touched a piece of fish to it, just barely... Buddy does the same and drags the fish/rice through the wasabi like it's ketchup! He stopped breathing for a minute, maybe a little longer.

One of my “stupid human tricks” is wasabi shots at sushi restaurants. Grab that little green ball of hate between 2 chopsticks, into the mouth, mash it up and down the gullet. I can always breath, but for some reason I can’t smell anything...

Most restaurants don't serve real wasabi. It's usually green horse radish.
When you get real wasabi, you'll know it.

Mayo always reminds of watching massively obese person get liposuction. It looks exactly like the fat blubber shit that comes out of em

Eat salad dressing ?
Same. Fucking. Thing.

I used to feel the same way about mayo. But I grew to like it. To the point where I will proudly nominate mayo to be the bacon equivalent in the condiment/salad dressing world.

Do I hear any “I second the motion” from anyone ? C’mon, don’t be scared. You are among friends. We would love to discuss your mayonnaise and bacon obsessions with other colleagues here on the Hide. Now, where do we start ?

Peanut butter and mayo sandwiches ,yep it's a thing.
Yuck. Nasty on hamburgers too. Fuck putting it on fries, I forget who does that but super yuck.

So after going to Canada, they turned me on to the gravy and fries, so if I can get it that way I do but it's rare. Don't eat a lot of fries. Then in Amsterdam, "frijtes" (sp?) or fries, are a BIG thing for them at lunch or whenever. They have little shops that sell nothing but fries. Loooong lines too. They can get a variety of toppings but their favorite? Crème fraiche. So found I like that too, much better than mayo but gravy is still better.

Sirracha ketchup ain't too bad either.

F all yall. I love mayonnaise, and all mayonnaise based condiments on just about anything.
My buddy calls it, "The White Man Condiment".

Then again, I'll eat (and enjoy) just about any food with the exception of that which is poisonous. I've enjoyed eating some poisonous stuff too. I just didn't like being poisoned.

BTW, the Japanese put mayonnaise on EVERYTHING, including sushi.

Like most things Japanese it's weird as shit. It tastes just like Hellman's though.

Mustard belongs on that mator sandwich, preferably ditch the loafbread and put it on a biscuit.

Mayo is OK for dipping steamed broccoli or artichoke, but I'd rather have sour cream. A little mixed in spinach-artichoke dip is OK. That's all I got.

What's everyone's feelings on Broccoli ? :ROFLMAO:

Love it. Raw, steamed, in a casserole, or in pasta. Quick pasta with broccoli that's good for hot days:

Boil broccoli lightly, still firm, remove.
Cook rigatoni in same water.
Ladle out a couple cups of cooking water.
Drain pasta.
Add good virgin oil to pot (don't be bashful).
Cook broccoli and thinly sliced garlic (don't be bashful) in oil, med to med low.
Add pasta, stir.
Add retained liquid as needed, shouldn't need much.
Add finely shredded parmesan, stir & serve.

Don't overcook the broccoli or pasta. It needs to hold together. Pick a chicken, pork or veal and bread it in crumbs and cook it in butter to go with it.

This concludes today's episode of Hicks Cookin Eye-Talyun.
