The large majority of our computer chips are made in Taiwan. I believe South Korea is a distant second place. If China were to disrupt or stop the export of those chips, they could effectively shut down most industries in the U.S. as well as the rest of the world. They probably wouldn't do that, but it would give them the leverage and opportunity to force nearly the entire industrialized world to do exactly what the Chinese tell them to do. It would be a geo-strategic checkmate.
