I had to return my first Falcon Menace to the retailer as it had some tracking issues, the retailer will happily replace it but he no longer has the MOA versions in stock as they have been discontinued.

He says I can have the following as replacement:

Falcon Menace 4.5-18x56 in 0.1 Mil adjustment (never used mil scopes before, only shoot at known distance and worried about the courser adjustment compared to 1/4MOA)

Nikko Sterling Target Master 6-24x56

Hawke Sidewinder 30 8-32x56

I'm unsure which to choose, I have no experience of the Nikko and Hawke so would tend to go for the Falcon but I'm not sure about the Mil adjustment and the clicks on my last one were a bit sloppy/indistinct.

What would you do?/Anyone know anything about the other two?

Cheers

To be honest its probably not the system of measurement that bothers me, it's the fact that the 0.1Mrad adjustments are a 1/3rd bigger (less fine) than the 1/4 MOA that I'm use to.

I also don't want to pass up the possibility of having a better scope with one of the other two.

Sounds big to me. I have a problem I may need to get over that scopes are too dang big, heavy and awkward.
With the Menace, try cleaning out the grease and replacing with gun butter or like lube. Also, you may want to reassess how tight you need to torque down the knobs.
I have the new knobs on my 4-14 FFP and with the tune up above I consider it an asset, at least for my budget rifle.

I have had experience with the Nikko Stirling Targetmaster 6-24x56 and I can honestly say it is a piece of shit!!! Stay away from that!!! I recently purchased a mil/mil Millet and absolutely love it. I personally use a mil based reticle though, I dont know what you use. But with the mil reticle zeroing for point of impact at unknown distances is a breeze. I can not give an opinion at shooting at known distances though, so to each their own. If I had to choose between those 3 I would likely go with the mil/mil. I personally plan on having my Leupy MK4's all converted to mil adjustments as soon as Leupold opens the door for retrofits.

All 4.5-18 models will have sloppy clicks. However - sloppy, and not tracking well, do not necessarily go "hand-in-hand".

Re: Another Falcon Menace 4.5-18x56 or.........

Go with the menace and adapt, I think that would be best with the present options. I have a Menace 5.5x25x50 and although the clicks are a bit sloppy, it tracked well at the last competition.

Falcon is atleast halfway decent, Nikko Stirling and Hawke are just other ways of spelling POS.

Although I'd get a 4-14 Menace if I was you, seems that's the model people are generally most happy about.

I had a Nikon buckmaster and it worked well enough. It's much nicer to have the FFP though.

Agree this is the best option.

I have just recently been able to use a Mil/Mil, reticule/turret configured scope and I must say, the Mil/Mil beats the Mil/MOA scope hands down for ease of use. You may never want to go back.
