Anschutz 1727 magazine basepads

I have not found one

I bought a couple of these. Wound up having to buy two Savage mags to rob the springs and followers. Then there is some minor fitting to the follower.
Do they work? So-so at best with a full 12 rounds. If you have never owned an Anschutz then be advised that the magazines are not perfect. Mine run great 99.5% of the time but you must take care not to get "rim-lock" when loading them. In fact, in the downloadable manual it has a section devoted to loading them.
I wish, even with what seems to be some issues, L3i would come up with a plus rounds mag for the Annie.

With some attention to detail, and careful assembly they work perfectly. You have to modify the savage follower. Great 12 round magazines.

So do I have to buy Savage magazines and steal the followers out of them?
Magazine Extenstion for Anschutz 1420-U13 Magazines

****Requires custom fitting of CZ or Savage follower and spring!****

Design Features:

  • Adds at least +2 capacity (loading past 12 may reduce reliability)
  • Developed with input from US Precision Rifle National Team members
  • Access ports at front and back of extension to make sure spring is seated properly
  • Requires use of follower and spring from CZ 455 10 round poly mag (#12004) or Savage mk2 10 round mag (#20005) - either follower will require bending (CZ) or trimming (Savage) to tune the fit for proper function. Followers and springs are not included.
  • Includes extension and M3 set screw only
Install Instructions:
  • Tune follower as needed to fit magazine body
  • Install follower and spring in body
  • Compress spring to allow extension to slide on from the front
  • Slide on extension
  • Ensure spring is seated against floor of extension - use holes at front and back of extension to manipulate spring as needed.
  • Back out set screw using 1.5mm hex wrench (not included) until 2-3 threads are above rear of magazine to lock it into place.
I used Savage magazines, remove minimum material from the follower. It must travel without binding (at all) the length of the magazine body. Good Luck

You are awesome!
I saw where someone had modified Savage magazines to fit and feed in an Anschutz by doing some creative fitting. To me I would rather spend the $$ on Anschutz magazines. When I bought Savage mags to rob parts necessary use these extensions a quick check of a couple places on the internet showed quite a difference in cost. Got mine from Midway for about $20 each. The extensions will also work with CZ mag spring and modified followers.

I ordered two more extensions last night and happened to see the same seller has safety mags with flags so I ordered a couple of them as well. Then, of course, I ordered two Savage 99 mags to rob springs and followers from. The good times never end (until the credit limit is met)

Tried this and couldn’t get it to work. What magic do I need to do?

Savage 99 or CZ spring and follower?
The followers have to be trimmed. There is a YT on it that shows how but I didn't find it very helpful.
The Anschutz magazine has an indention on either side at the top rear. you will need to trim the follower so it can come all the way up on the mag body.
Look closely and you can see the trim lines in the pic below.

I tried to modify a Savage MK2 magazine to fit in the Anschutz. The modification of using the savage internals in the Anschutz works like a charm after you modify the follower.

I figured I was using the mag internals anyway, and if I could get the Savage mag to work when not have a cheap alternative.
For sure. I picked up the Savage mag for under $20 but $85 for the Annie mag.
when you look at the two bodys they do seem very close but IIRC, it took a lot of careful filing and fitting to get the Savage mag to fit.

Kind of an aside, as well as expensive, but I found that Lapua Polar Biathlon fed way better than anything else I've tried in my Fortner.

If my XRP crypto takes off like I hope it does I'm going to get me a couple cases of it.

The case I had before was awesome stuff, was tested in my gun at the Lapua facility in Mesa AZ, and shot as well as the best Midas they had. Plus the G1 BC was IIRC .172.

SLR has fed pretty reliably in mine. I have an order in for a full case, down to 7 bricks on last purchase.
I've been using Wolf MT and it feeds okay just not as smooth as the PB does. It must have to do with the bullet shape and which I assume is the reason the BC is higher in the PB. Also the PB was going 1107 fps/summer in my gun.

My Vudoo hated Polar so much I have yet to try it on anything else.
Luckily my Vudoo and 1727 both shoot the tightest and most reliable with a certain speed Lapua Long Range. My Lonestar/Shilen Ratchet combo with a PQP tuner isn't happy with anything but Midas+ and only one speed lot of that. Thinking at some point, health permitting, I'll take a trip down to Whidden's and see if I can find a Eley happy place.

Here is what I have done so far: made some weights and modified the MDT thumb rest to work
Two questions.
First, I don't see that MDT thumb rest in the pic. Was that installed after this pic or am I blind?
Second, where did you get the rear bag rider? I am on the notification list for a Sawtooth but the one you have may work.
My rifle shipped today so should have it by Monday afternoon.

I could be wrong but I think the chambers in the Fortners were optimized for PB?? The tech at the Lapua facility tried 3-4 lot #'s of PB but only the one I bought was exceptional, however equal to the best Midas+, and I didn't want to spend X-act money which was the most precise at 100M by a tiny margin.
The best CX and all the SK lines didn't shoot as well as that lot of PB in my gun.
Just wish I had bought two cases! IIRC in inches(because they measure in MM) it shot around 1" for 10 shots OTO at 100M.
Also they didn't have a proper jig for a Fortner action so they had to put it in a vice using rubber shims which I thought was funky.
