New member here. I have an older that Anschutz 64 sporter that I pulled out to start shooting again and after giving it a thorough cleaning, I have noticed that cycling the bolt on an empty chamber always decocks the bolt. I do not remember this being an issue when I stored it. Does anyone out there know what may be going on?

Right now this is eliminating any dry fire practice.

Thanks in advance,

lcombs

Re: Anschutz 64 issue

I use to have that problem with a Savage/Anschutz (forgot what model, it was years ago). It required constant attention as I couldn't for the life of me could figure out how to keep that screw from working loose.

Finely ditched the rifle and went to a 1807 which is a Anschutz 54 action. After 25 years of shooting the 1807 I still haven't run across a problem with it.

(Except for offhand, sucker wont shoot off hand for shit).

If you dry fire your rifle (or just about any rimfire) you'll peen the chamber face and screw it up.
