This is way off from shooting but wanted to know if you can help? I just bought a 2010 silverado and every time I get any type of mud on it, it stains the paint where the only way to get it off is to buff it. The stains look like water spots and washing it will not do anything. I have also tried using a clay bar, rubbing compound on a polishing pad and still nothing. The paint color is a taupe metallic grey(new color gm is using) and the dealership is giving me a hard time about fixing it. This is the third time this happens and I have no clue on what to do next............Thank you

Re: any automotive painters?

You are dealing with a base coat/clear coat process. If your paint is staining, well, you may want to go have the entire vehicle painted with something different in a similiar color, but single stage coat. I am also going to assume your issues are down low under the side trim line. If so, maybe some of those redneck apliques may be the solution before you hit the dirt. I have seen them in many shades of real tree and some even offer total side, hood, and bumper coverage

3M protective film, helps prevent paint chips from rocks and such. Its good to do the hood half way back as well.

BUT do not put them on the headlights ..... it traps the heat in and can cause cracking in the lexan used, especially on later model fords, 08 and later.
