Any contraindications to mounting a Kydex on 700p?

As a LR neophyte, I place more stock in the opinions of others than I do in my own judgment. Having said that, I recently hit upon the idea of attaching a Kydex Adjustable Cheek Rest to my as-yet-to-be-fired-because-I-want-the-first-one-out-of-the-barrel-to-have-maximum-sweetness Remington 700p.

I ran this idea past a friend of mine who also has a 700p and he too had thought about this piece of gear for his own use. He was hesitant though because of some nuance with the stock of the 700p that he thought might interfere with a successful mount. Specifically, he stated that there is a hollow area in the stock that could conceivably compromise the integrity of the mount. I used the search feature and read many posts but I was unable to find any post that delivered the desired degree of specificity. So, my question is as follows:

Is there any reason that a Kydex Adjustable Cheek Rest should not be mounted to a Remington 700p?

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

Not that you have any need to be real worried. There are a LOT of guys here on the Hide, over in the sanbox etc. with Karsten's cheek pieces. And if mounting them as the instructions describe did create stock strength issues, likely they'd have been changed quite a while back. It'd be kinda' tough for him to stay in business otherwise.

That said, if it'll give you peace of mind, drill the holes out to say 1/2-3/4 diameter. And then get some G-10 or similar, to make cylindrical pillars/compressions sleeves out of. Then epoxy bond them into the oversized holes, & run the bolts for the cheekpiece through the center of the pillars.

And if you're major concerned/paranoid. After you bond the pillars in place you can epoxy a few layers of fiberglass overtop of them in that area of the stock,, tapering down the edges of the additional material of course. Thus there's no way they're going anywhere. As well as being major structural enhancements.

The next level up from there is to bevel around the holes for the pillars prior to adding the glass layers, & run fillets of Marine Tex around them to prevent the possibility of any stress risers being created in the area.

And yeah, short of a good shop, & some practice, it's a PIA. Though not difficult to do.
