As a LR neophyte, I place more stock in the opinions of others than I do in my own judgment. Having said that, I recently hit upon the idea of attaching a Kydex Adjustable Cheek Rest to my as-yet-to-be-fired-because-I-want-the-first-one-out-of-the-barrel-to-have-maximum-sweetness Remington 700p.
I ran this idea past a friend of mine who also has a 700p and he too had thought about this piece of gear for his own use. He was hesitant though because of some nuance with the stock of the 700p that he thought might interfere with a successful mount. Specifically, he stated that there is a hollow area in the stock that could conceivably compromise the integrity of the mount. I used the search feature and read many posts but I was unable to find any post that delivered the desired degree of specificity. So, my question is as follows:
Is there any reason that a Kydex Adjustable Cheek Rest should not be mounted to a Remington 700p?
Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.
