Re: any info on1-8 premier??

V8 1.1-8x24
This Mo' fo is BAD ASS!!!....

PR brosure quote:
No longer will you have to settle for mounting two seperate sighting devices on you weapon to engage targets from 5ft. to 500yrds. Our new 1.1-8x24 V8 series CQB riflescope delivers superior optical quality, precise & reliable adjustments, along with a two focal plane (reticle/red dot) sighting system that makes switching from 500yrds to 5ft. as simple as a turn of the power selector and all without leaving you your shooting position.
Our unique switching system automatically changes from an illuminated Gen2 CQB reticle in the first focal plane to a projected red dot in the second focal plane, once the magnification selector is adjusted down to below 3x. This functionality allows the shooter to engage targets with both eyes open from 5ft. to 50yrda. on setting 1.1 to 3x or in traditional longer range shooting style from 50 - 500yrds. when set from 3-8x

Key Features...
*Illumination: 11 intensity settings, and an "off" position between each setting. (1st three settings for use with nightvision)
*Unique 1st & 2nd focal plane sighting system with Auto switching at 3x
*8x ratio magnification and field of view
*Leverlock dial retention for tool-less re-zero

Re: any info on1-8 premier??

Yeah, I heard the Leupold optic was less than pleasing. Also, Liberty Optics Scott basically called the S&B offering comedic in so many words. Looking forward to your writeup on the Premier. Thanks.

around $2,500 MSRP I believe.

Re: any info on1-8 premier??

I looked at it and the S&B, 1.1-8 on the PR, and 1-8 on the S&B, the PR was a preproduction version, I think was Paul who said the production version will not have a paralex knob because it wasn't needed, both scopes are a combo of FFP and SFP, the reticle is FFP and the dots in SFP, I think I perfer the PR over the S&B, it seemed to me PR put alot of thought in to there scope and S&B just enlarged there short dot.

IIRC, I was told $2900 MSRP, which is in between the 3-15x and the 5-25x. It's a complicated scope with additional features (illuminated dot in the second focal plane and a mil reticle in the first focal plane, illumination switches between dot and mil reticles at about 3x). All of these 1.1-8x scopes are fairly large, don't be surprised by it.

Re: any info on1-8 premier??

its just as long as the 3-15. maybe a little but more. Its only in the prototype stage now and we were told that it is VERY complicated to assemble. Premier said it was going to be one of those items thats never in stock because it will be selling out so fast. Great concept though. The scope was light but long, could make mounting on a bolt gun a little awkward. Perfect for a AR15 or AR10 platform.

It will be expensive! The amount of fine tuning and technology in the smaller scopes is mind boggling.

Re: any info on1-8 premier??

Length is ~316mm, quite a bit shorter than the 3-15x. The proportions look a bit different from other scopes though, which is a result of housing this quite extreme optical design in sound mechanics.

Re: any info on1-8 premier??

As I see more people in this thread,,..anyone have an idea on the weight of this scope?

And... can you cancel the "reticle automatic switch"??

Weight on the prototype is 780g. Since the parallax adjustment will be gone in the production version, it may be a tad lighter.

The "automatic switch" just refers to the choice of which illumination is used at a given power setting, depending on magnification. If the illumination is switched off, it is off at any magnification setting.

The 1.1-8x combines two reticle systems in one scope, a conventional illuminated FFP Gen2-style reticle (Mildot with 0.5 mil hashmarks, illuminated 5 mils from center in all directions) and a SFP red dot. Activation of the reticle illumination is done with a dial on the left of the center section of the main tube just like on the Heritage scopes.

Once you get the scope in hand the function of the reticles becomes apparent immediately. On low power, you have a red dot for quick target acquisition (CQB type stuff), on high power there's a fully usable illuminated FFP Gen2 reticle. Of course, the black FFP reticle is also visible on low power, and the thick outer posts make the scope very usable on low power even with the red dot/illumination switched off.
The reticle switching mechanism was very popular with visitors at our SHOT booth and I have repeatedly seen grown men smile all over their face like little children upon discovering the functionality.

Re: any info on1-8 premier??

Maybe it's just me, but that seems pretty damn big for a CQB scope. I like the idea of two ret's depending on what power you're on, so nice work there, just wish it wasn't so fugly...

Might have to check one out.
