Any reason not to loctite selftiming brakes?

Because you might want to pull it off for cleaning??? My Jet Blasts go on and stay on with just a little torque from a wrench...I could not fathom using loctite on them.

DO NOT DO THIS. You will want to take it off to clean it and the crown. Loctite would be a horrible idea.
Well, that would be a concern with any brake, so with that logic, no one would ever loctite a brake (and that sure aint true).

P.S. Wipe out is your friend when cleaning brakes.

Why ask the question if you don’t like the answer? I have only ever torqued mine, and all my brakes are suppressor hosts. Zero issues.

Interesting. On a different forum the advice was torque only if not a suppressor host, however, if a suppressor host absolutely rocksett. What do others do?

Because im asking for this specific case of a self-timing brake, not brakes in general - the advice to not apply any loctite across the board, without consideration of type or use, is asinine.

You don't need lock tite or rockset for a suppressor mount. If you are torquing it on correctly you won't have an issue. If you are trying to put one on hand tight and then screw a suppressor on you are probably going to need some lock tite.

I've gone the Rocksett and Loctite routes before and would never use either one again. If you want to remove the brake for cleaning, you would have a job cleaning the threads and die would be needed to chase the threads.

What do you guys torque your MDs to? I have a hellfire and tried torquing it to 25 (universal adapter) but noticed it fucked up my groups so now I hand tighten it.

My hand-tightened Gen2 LB loosened up when doing a bunch of load development work. I wasted an entire session trying to figure out why none of them grouped well. Now I snug things up beyond hand tight.

Brakes / flash hider get torqued with some anti seize.

Suppressor hosts get rocksett every time.

You can get rocksett off in 30 minutes with 3 rounds of boiling water and a large butter tub.

A baffle strike is not worth the laziness.

Cleaning! You want to clean after it gets carbon build up and accuracy deteriorates, number one reason not to use Loctite. The shooters in the lanes next to you will appreciate it as well when you can clean your brake easily and you don't have carbon pieces blowing their way. Torque it with a tiny bit of Nickel based Permatex anti-seize and and you won't ever have to think about Loctite.
