Rifle Scopes Any regrets with USO's JNG reticle?

After doing my research (mostly on the Hide), I'm heavily leaning toward a 1.8x10 37mm mil/mil US Optics scope for my GAP-10. The GAP-10 has a shorter barrel config (17.5") so I'm thinking a dual purpose reticle makes the most sense.

I like the JNG the most, especially with the illum feature for closer engagements. This reticle seems to be the best of both worlds. Now that the design has been in people's scopes for a while, I wanted to get some opinions of how it's worked out for them.

For those of you that have used this reticle, what was your experience? Are you glad you went with it or would you have preferred choosing another reticle design in retrospect? Thanks for your help.

I had it, it worked, but a little busy. On the new USO I got I went with the MIL GAP reticle. Finer lines make precision easier and close up can be done with illumination maxed out and both eyes open.

The MIL JNG has a thinner line for the circle which gets small at low power. Of course the thicker line on the MOA version covers more of the target.

Is that MIL ret? If so what does 23.4" / 46.8" correspond to?

If it is MIL, a 8 MIL or a 16 MIL diameter makes infinetly more sense to me.

Also how is it with the lit feature 100% in full sun against a light background? Can anyone that has used this and Short Dot chime in?

It is MIL. The circle has a 23.4" radius and 46.8" diameter. Why, I don't know.

Full sun on a bright background, the reticle will appear black/brown at full illumination.

I'm heading down to San Diego in a bit, but can take some pics like this with my MIL GAP reticle at full illumination so you can get an idea.

I'll actually be back for R&R in from early to mid June. How about I drive up your way and we do some shooting? I'd love to get a look at your scope before buying, but from the features alone, that USO looks like a winner to me.

I had the JNG MIL in an SN-4 and on 6x the reticle was almost to small to be useful. You could make rough holdovers with it, but forget trying to range with it since you couldn't define it down very small. FWIW

Luke, thanks for the pics. I'm pretty sold on this so far, though I would like to get a green illum over red. Never really liked the red, though I do have hit in my other USO.

I debated between green and red illumination. After learning more about the human eye, I went with red since it's not perceived as light. This let's the pupil dilate more and suck in more light. Made sense to me.

I'm getting ready to sell/trade my TA31F-RMR Acog to switch to a USO SN-3 1.8x10x and I was thinking the JNG reticle also. Thanks for the input on the JNG, I didn't realize it was so small at low power!

Has anyone used their SN-4 1-4x DFP scope? I was thinking that would be a nice transition from the Acog and the DFP reticles would make it a viable scope for 3-gun as well as target & yote hunting, I just wish they made it in a 1.8-10x version.

I'm pretty happy with it in the 1.5-6. Got it for a friend in an ST-10 and he likes it as well.

It helps draw your eye to the center for fast action shots, yet you can still do hold overs and hold offs just fine. It does get a bit difficult to do a fractional hold when you get down around 7 mils in the reticle, but you have to evaluate how critical that is given the intended use of the optic.
