Subject firearm is a Rr, Rrrr, Rrrruger 10/22 compact with a hardwood stock (daughter's x-mas present).

I removed the barreled action and sent to CPC for their tune-up. Next, I need to install a sling stud on the stock so I can attach a bipod. The obvious choice is to purchase a screw in type sling stud and be done with it.

However, at some point in time I plan to ditch the bipod for a sling so she can learn to shoot sling supported. My concern is working the screw-in type sling stud loose when shooting sling supported, as the swivel will be under torque. Kindly advise any installation suggestions that will preclude the sling stud from coming loose - thanks...

When I drill them off center, I have to epoxy up the hole and re drill.

That pain teaches me to drill them on center to start with.

You can drill and tap a piece of steel and epoxy it into the barrel side of the stock.

if you can find a nut, use the stud with machine threads. on the backside of the stock where the hole comes thru, use a forstner bit to drill a recess so that the nut wont touch the barrel. you can also just use a bigger drill bit to make a indent. if its the factory stock, isnt there a 10/22 replacement barrel band that has stuff on it? like a small rail or sling studs?
