I have a Savage MAKO 93r17 that I would either love to mount a atlas rail to the bottom, or try and get a spigot in the front, I do not want to mount a harris. I cannot go back after having the Atlas. Preferably the spigot would be the best. I beielive because of the shark fins cut in the front of the stock, the spigot could be modified and threaded with a nut from the back side ( inside the shark fins ).... any ideas? or should I scrap that idea and just mount the rail?

ps. the rifle in the picture is not mine, I just don't have a picture of mine on the computer yet....but I thought that would give an idea of the shape of the stock...

Thanks!!!

Most normal people would just go rail on the bottom for this situation.
If you look at the socket on an AI which works with the Atlas spigot, there's a few things that need doing to the wood stock - a clip or screw to internally hold the spigot in the hole - the hole in the front of the stock for a spigot to fit into, and then a 'shelf' which locks up against the shelf on the Atlas spigot attachment to stop it from rocking left to right. On a pretty stock like that, i'd just put a rail on the bottom because a spigot socket could end up in tears.

That's kind of what I was thinking, although I figured I could weld and thread the spigot to have a nut on the end to tighten up. I didn't realize it needs s shelf to stop tilting though, never seen one in person. Can a rail be mounted with out using t nuts on the side of the stock? because of the shark fin openings on the front, the t nuts can't sit underneath the barrel, maybe a small screw and washer instead? Ill post some pic's later
