I have a tactical medalist, the a-3 style one, and was wondering if anyone has ever tried modding it to look a little more like an McMillan A-4?

I've seen it tried on some airsoft replicas when I was younger and they didnt look too bad, but most of it was just bondo and hobbyists trying to make it work. Has anyone had any real success out of doing this? I ask because I really like the feel of the stock, yet I wish it had a butthook and a slightly slimmer for-end. Anyone ever seen one done or done it themselves with pictures?

I did some work on a B&C stock that was a corelite model or something. The core was indeed "light" foam so under the hard fiberglass coat there was not much to work to hold and bond new material. It can be done however with plenty of time and marine tex and fiberglass. I don't have any pics to offer.

There was a thread with detailed pics of what you are wanting to do. Seems like a couple years ago now. I searched a bit and couldn't find it. You have better luck with the search.

Never done it to a stock, but glass over foam is pretty easy to work if you know how to work fiberglass. It's urethane foam under the shell, so just dremel out what you don't want, fill and shape with additional urethane foam, then glass over it. You'll get better results on the bonding areas using an epoxy based fiberglass resin instead of the styrene based. Fill and sand with Bondo or epoxy filler. No big deal for non structural areas, but its an art to make it look nice. Also I wouldn't think its a great idea to work too much on the structural areas without a lot of care, they have a specific lamination schedule to keep the strength up.

Post pics if you do it!
