Anyone going to Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot?

Just looking to meet any SHers that will be in Kentucky for the shoot next month. This will be our first trip there and we're stoked!! Cool thing is my son is the drummer for the "house" band- Pokerface. They will be entertaining the crowd with 2 sets this year. I'll be the big bald guy doing the video-taping for the band. Please stop by and say hi.

That is correct, because folks with outstanding paper on them, are not allowed to enter the grounds.

I used to go back when I was in high school (I grew up in southern Indiana). It's a great time. Lots a rare guns to see.

I don't know if any of your buddies have told you this, but you should make the following preparations.

1. Plenty of pocket money as you never know what you will find there. Over the shoulder bag, backpack, etc., careful that it is not too big as you will find yourself in traffic jams between the tables all day.
2. Ear plugs, with a set of ear muffs, or a real high quality set of noise canceling hearing protection + one bottle of water and 4 BC Powders or other favorite headache medicine.
3. The most comfortable and cushioned pair of durable shoes/boots you own. The gravel that Kenny uses is designed intentionally to produce stone bruises on your feet.
4. Clothing for all weather conditions or combination thereof...hurricane, sandstorm, epic snowfall, forest fires, you know anything possible, think disaster movie, not joking here.
5. Self recovery equipment for your vehicle: winch, straps, another vehicle, two other vehicles, gloves and a spare change of clothes. HINT, if it is wet don't park in the lower field, just sayin'.

Unfotunately, I have to miss the Spring shoot again this year because of work. I'll be at the Fall shoot though!

Take Fighthard's sage advice!!! He is 100% on the mark!! Especially about good boots (not shoes...stick with boots) and vehicle recovery equipment!!

I laughed my ass off at some poor joe who decided to bring his decked out, loaded Cadillac Escalade EXT with 22" rims and awe-inspiring AWD system to the shoot last fall who then proceeded to have his nice ride completely caked in mud from top to bottom, eventually being pulled out by one of the tractors. Poor b@st@rd looked like someone had kicked him in the nuts by the time he "got free".

People-watching is half (okay...20%) of the reason I still go to the MGS!!

Thanks for all the replies guys!! I'm looking forward to the weekend, but not the drive through the night on Thursday!! The rest of the guys in the band have been going there since 2001 or 2002 so I've been debriefed. I will DEFINITELY be taking the advice posted here regarding boots, backpack, foul weather gear, vehicle recovery equip, etc!! Remember to stop by and say hi if you're at the concert.
