Anyone going to the Knobb Creek shoot in Oct.?????

Re: Anyone going to the Knobb Creek shoot in Oct.?????

I always went there when I was younger. That was the first time I saw a weapon that wasn't a shotgun or 22 rifle. My eyes were opened, and I haven't been the same since. It's like taking a kid who's only played the weekly poker game to Vegas for the first time. I was hooked!

I went a couple of years ago. I enjoyed it, but once was enough for Me. There is some fun to be had renting full auto's and putting some rounds downrange. I sure wouldn't rent out My class 3 weapon. Too much wear and tear. I don't see how the money made from the rental can pay for a weapon that cannot be rebuilt when it wears out. Full auto fire control systems are serial numbered and can't be reproduced.

It's plenty of fun, just cost a little to much do do anything other than watch. You will have a good time. I took a Lady I was dating at the time.

If I can get my Son home on leave, we'll be there shooting the Old Military bolt gun, and assault rifle comps. Might do the Jungle walk again, as well. The thing that does it for me is the early Friday morning smells that float the air, brings back days gone by. Canvas, weapons oil, Cosmoline, rides from my days ect.

A few years back they had a sandbagged tent with a M14e2 and a Pig set up that were flanking 3 M16a1's, fake claymores, water bag, shit trench, PRC-10 and C-rats. I thought I had stepped back in time, until I seen the XM21, then I knew I was there. Talked to those guys for 2 hrs about back when. Best two hours have had in along time.

Most of the rentals are dealer samples and not that expensive to own if your a dealer.
