i am wondering if anyone has a chart that shows the min and max sizes for threading and also for using taps. ive heard the machinist handbook but i dont think i need an entire book for this chart. if im wrong let me know which addition of the book i need.

Re: Anyone have a chart for threading and tapping

thats a great chart.

now if i can get a chart that shows what i need to turn the inside diamiter so i can thread it. like what i need to bore the inside to before i start threading for 5/8x24 and other pitches.

Re: Anyone have a chart for threading and tapping

Tap drill size = MD - 1/N

MD is Major diameter, which in you case is (.625)

1/N is 1 divided by the number of threads per inch, which in your case is (24)

so .625 - 1/24 = .5833 this number gives you 75% thread

Hope this helps
