Watched an interesting video on Vortex's website last night. They developed a ballistics program similar to the JBM but it goes a step further. They claim that this program will help tailor a ballistics card to your exact rifle. Aside from being able to save specific loads and environmental data independently of each other, Vortex uses a system they call Trajectory Validation.

This is a 2 part process. In the first step, you build and use a range card just as you would with any other ballistic program. Then, through a few simple tests and with some simple math, you basically input a few numbers into their software and it uses a complex formula that corrects your velocity and will build a more accurate range card for you to print.

I believe they said it was cumulative, so the more you do it, the more accurate your card will become for that particular rifle/load. Vortex also uses this software to build custom turrets if you want to go that route.

I know I sound like a salesman but I'm not. I just thought this was a good innovation, as long as it works, and wanted to see if anyone here has put it to the test?

I'll link a few videos explaining the software because I did a terrible job explaining it. (watch in order and it will make more sense)

Re: Anyone have experience with the Vortex LRBC?

I have taken a look at the Votex LRBC program and it appears quite easy to use . However there is nothing there that is better than JBM in my opinion other than being able to save your bullet data which is handy. I can't see how the velocity validation works because I could not see an entry for chrony distance . It only allows two drag functions G1 and G7 . JBM has many drag functions. The program does not list BC's at certain velocities or mark the transonic zone as JBM does.
It only uses one BC and velocity and therefore may not be as accurate as programs that use multiple BC's and velocities .
However it is designed to be easy to use and it may well do quite a good job with factory bullets . You really have to try it and see how close it comes to your real world dope.
