Anyone work for or know Microsoft?

Re: Anyone work for or know Microsoft?

I heard a micro-soft was why Bill Gates wont have anymore children.

Re: Anyone work for or know Microsoft?

If you need some software for you to use for your development and testing of programs and testing server setups etc. Sigining up for a Microsoft Technet subscription is fairly cheap and you pretty much get access to all the Microsoft software.

Re: Anyone work for or know Microsoft?

I have a solution.

Use a linux server OS for your server. Its better anyway. If you must have a GUI you can install it easily from the command line.

Ubuntu while not the best linux distro for server, is better than Microsoft, has a nice GUI and is easy to use for windows only people. There are better choices out there than ubuntu though. Look at distrowatch.com

I have CCNA and Net Plus Certs

I have an Ubuntu server, I specifically want Win2k8 so I can finish yet another microsoft cert....

Each has a purpose, but Ubuntu will not serve the purpose I am seeking.

I can find a way to run dot-net on ubuntu but it's a pita.

I'm GOOD on Linux but not as good as Windows and I know security on Windows and how to tighten it down, it's what I do for a living...

Win2k8 is far more secure than Linux, might be hard to believe but google the word IAVA against each OS.

It's almost 2-1 against Linux.

Apple - they have a few IAVA's now, not so secure since they went to Linux.
Adobe software LOL - more IAVA's than carter has pills. pure crap.

But I'm looking for Windows 2008, I have a license and run it in VMWare for school but I want a hardware based box for my business.

I have an MCSE, MCP+I, Sec+,Net+,VPN cert, Linux I/II certification and my girlfriend has the CCNA

We took the CISSP but we'll see - don't know if i passed that one.

So again i am looking for a copy of Win2k8 server...:)

Oh yeah, forgot I have a degree now in Information Assurance.

Re: Anyone work for or know Microsoft?

Ah, well that's a good purpose to need windows. Good luck finishing all your Microsoft Certs! I'm about to take the CCNP! I hope I pass first go.

Yes any linux takes a little more patience, I would argue with you about security regarding server OS's but we are on a Gun forum and that's another topic for another forum LOL.

Re: Anyone work for or know Microsoft?

Silver - in DOD there is no argument - we get hte bulletins and they outnumber windows.

In the real world, perhaps....no matter, Win2k8 R2 is VERY stable and secure and I like it

Re: Anyone work for or know Microsoft?

Has to be 2008R2, I'm a master at Redhat, it will not fit my needs.

Besides, Redhat sold out, I believe they, and Fedora, are now part of Ubuntu.

I want 2008 so I can do my dot net stuff, my Active Directory, as well as security hardening practice/testing...

2008 R2, no linux...

(I may be game for a BSD Unix box someday but not now)
