Just got into the smart phone world...other than "shooter" what other app's would you recommend ?
.
Anything is welcome..mostly outdoors type etc ..or just in general
.
Sorry for the "vagueness"....I picked up a Casio Commando, wanted the durability as opposed to the speed. So it will use android apps.

Is that the one by EclipSim?
I would like the distance between two points. Looking that one up does not show that function.

Re: App Recommendations

Mechanic, yes it is, download it, turn on your gps, go into gps status, menu<radar<menu<mark, go to wherever it is you want, and in the right hand corner their will be a thing that says distance, that is giving a constant read out.

I havent used it in awhile, last time was back in Oct, I used it and verified it with a bushnell 1600 lrf, and google earth, each one of them gave me exact reading within +/-yd out to 800yds.

Re: App Recommendations

gotta have "Sky Map". This is a google app that shows (day or night) the stars overhead, and moves as you aim it at different areas of the sky.
Very, Very cool.
Gas Buddy, shows gas prices near you, great when traveling, and allows you to input prices you see. I use it to find lowest price close enough to drive to.

Re: App Recommendations

Thanks...just got my droid and I downloaded most of the apps on your list. I really dig "angry birds"...fun game.

Re: App Recommendations

Having just got a smartphone as well, this is an interesting thread... thanks everyone for the recommendations.

I'd add Gasbuddy, which a friend suggested.

Here's an app I would like to find... anyone heard of something that does this?

I'd like a tachometer that will measure head speed of machine tools. Using either the camera or acoustic signature to tell how fast a lathe or mill (or even drill press) chuck is turning.

Would be a great app for gunsmiths, etc. who use older lathes that don't have digital RPM sensors, etc. Feeds and speeds can be very critical, and measuring by trial and error isn't always ideal.

There is one App out there for measuring headspeed of RC helicopters, but talked to the developer and it won't work.

Thanks and cheers,

Sirhr
