Got my first ar-10 it a Baer monolith I need to change out charging handle latch.

Are ar-15 and ar-10 charging latches the same?

Is there any benefit to changing out the charging handle to something like bravo or badger (I know the complete handle is larger on the ar10)

Re: Ar-10 charging handle latch question

You can use charging handle latches interchangeably from the various AR-15s to 308-AR-type platforms, but when swapping them out, be sure to REPLACE (NOT reuse) the roll pin as they are the weak link in the equation to begin with and there's no sense in reusing a potentially beat-up, worn, $0.45 component.

As for benefits to swapping out the complete CH assembly...that depends. There are some beefier/stronger CHs out there if you have concerns about bending/torquing the standard unit or breaking the tiny, 1/16" roll pin that fixes the latch onto the CH including the BCM Gunfighter units for one. For those issues, it really comes down to how you are running your rifle. There are also some aftermarket CHs designed to work better in guns that are overgassed, being run suppressed, etc. to reduce/eliminate the blowback toward the shooter such as the PRI Gasbuster units for one.
