I've been thinking of working up a new load for my AR-10T using 175grSMKs over H4895, I've been using 165grSST Hornady over 44.0gr Varget, only because I had a bunch loaded up for bolt gun (hunting). Has anyone else been down this road before? (175grSMK w/H4895) If so where did you start, where did you finish, and what where your results with this rifle, bullet, powder combo? Thank you in advance for your replies.

Here's my experience with a 20" GAP built DPMS LR. All loads are WIN brass and CCI BR2 primers with a COAL of ~2.801" (I don't have a comparator). Extractor marks showed up on nearly ALL loads. Also, there were no signs of pressure on the primers in ANY the following loads. My only "true" indicator of pressure was loose primer pockets. Additionally, the primer pocket comments are based on a VERY small sample size potentially limiting the usefulness of that data. I haven't made any comments about accuracy in the "notes" section because all my testing has been done at 100yds thus far. Additional testing is underway in the coming weeks.

Sorry if the chart is hard to read. It was copy/paste from MS Excel.

My best group out of my AR-10 has been 44gr. IMR 4895 with the 175 SMK. The OAL is 2.83 with FGMM brass with CCI br2 primers. No MV as of yet (brand new crono bit the dust first trip out); I have shot 45gr with no pressure signs.
Before this load I used 44.6 gr of Varget under the 175's
