AR-30 customizations

Re: AR-30 customizations

The PRS is about 1.25" longer than the factory stock. And as I work with it, I do have to say that my cheek rides way forward on the PRS cheek piece and that with my scope ran back as far as possible. This setup is way less than ideal, but in comparison to the factory stock, it is better. Since I will still need to build up the cheek piece, I am tempted to buy a regular A2 stock and work with that to see which I like better. Since the PRS is already ran all the way in, I don't need the feature of adjustable LOP and with the cheek piece still too low and in need of a lift wort, I may choose to put it on my AR and work with an A2 stock. It's all still too early to tell, but with the adapter, I can now consider options.

The big challenge is, and always has been, the need to have the cheek piece as far forward as possible while still allowing room for the bolt to be removed. This is the bane of a long action in this platform.

I've got the adapter and now am looking for a stock? You have the ar10 or ar15 version? If the ar10 would it be better to get the ar15 version as long as the bolt doesn't hit the cheek rest?

Re: AR-30 customizations

I got the AR10 version. I don't know the exact specs between the two. I just kinda assumed that the AR15 version would be too short for the bolt throw.

Re: AR-30 customizations

Dave, I was doing some research and comparisons and I believe the magpul prs for the ar/15 version will work and be better as you have more cheek rest forward on the stock. The bolt should still clear fine! Anyhow, I plan on getting one so when I get it I'll let you know for sure, but I'm 99.9% sure it'll work.

I know I’m 11 years behind but I’m trying to find a stock adapter for my armalite ar30. I reached out to allied precision arms but they discontinued the item 7 years ago. Anybody have on hanging around for sale?
